Первоначально в этом здании находилась духовная школа для мальчиков — Талмуд-Тора. Построено в 1913 году. С октября 1918 года по сентябрь 1920 года в здании бывшей Талмуд-Торы работал доктор медицины, первый ректор Таврического университета Роман Иванович Гельвиг.
