GM created Pontiac in 1926, sold beside the more expensive Oakland. The Oakland was dropped in 1933, the Pontiac continued to be sold until 2010.
The first generation Grand Prix was built from 1962-68, a full size car, it was a replacement for the Ventura, essentially a standard Catalina coupe with minimal outside chrome trim and a sportier interior (bucket seats and a center console).
Full-sized Pontiacs were completely restyled for 1965 featuring more rounded bodylines with Coke-bottle profiles and stacked headlights.
Base model was the Catalina, available in 2 and 4 door Hardtop, 2 and 4 door Sedan, Convertible and Sedan.
Mid spec, the Star Chief, available in 4 door Hardtop or Sedan.
