The XC Falcon was the 2nd facelift on the XA, Ford lowered the waistline at the rear doors of the XC and fitted lower headrests, in a bid to increase visibility, it got a square looking grille, new bumpers and improved tail lights. The Fairmont featured square headlights, the rest had rounded lights. A redesigned instrument panel got circular instruments , The Futura and the mighty GT were now discontinued (the best was the Fairmont GXL Sedan or Cobra Hardtop with 351 V8s)

The update in 1978 got improved suspension, it saw the FORD letters on the bonnet disappear and Ford oval appear in the centre of the grille.
