Description
English: The sculpture decorating the tomb of Eduard Le Mounier.in the Saint-Michel cemetery in St Brieuc in Brittany, France. Le Mounier was a French pilot killed in action in 1918. This sculpture is the work of Jean Boucher (1870-1918). The tomb comprises a marble column surmounted by a bronze bust of Le Mounier. By the base of the column stands the sculpture shown in this photograph. The sculpture features an allegory for France in the form of a veiled and grieving woman who holds in her arms a wounded bird symbolizing the dead aviator
