Portrait photograph of Arthur Hopkins

  • Caption reads as follows:

The producer of "What Price Glory?" stands almost alone in the managerial field in that he combines the mental make-up of the commercial and the art producer. He began his career as a newspaper man and his first theatrical venture was "The Poor Little Rich Girl" at the Hudson Theatre in 1912. The success of this play encouraged him to continue, and later enterprises, particularly the productions of O’Neill's "The Hairy Ape" and "Anna Christie," and the launching of John Barrymore as a star, established him definitely as one of the leaders among American producers of the first class
