USED AS AN ANVIL But according to Herbert D. Snyder,of the Pennsylvania Rubber Company,Jeannette, Pa., there is an odd story con-cerning it. During the construction of the Balti-more and Ohio between Cumberland andConnellsville, two construction gangswere working from both terminals to meetat a point near the station of Casselman.When this point was reached it was nec-essary to cut one of the rails in order tomake it the desired length. One of theinhabitants, whatever his motive mayhave been, quietly took possession of thepiece of rail and hid it in a neighboringforest. A member of one of the construc-tion gangs saw the incident and, in turn,and just as quietly, became the possessorof the metal, later giving it to Mr. Snydersgrandfather. It has been in the possessionof the Snyder family ever since, and, ashas been said, is being used as an anvil.
