Reunion marking the 50th Anniversary of the wartime use of Birralee, and neighbouring Brierly Lodge, by Scotch College, Adelaide.
On 8 May 1942, the Australian Army took possession of the Scotch College site at Torrens Park for use as a U.S. Army hospital. On the departure of the U.S. Army, the Royal Australian Air Force took possession of the site for use as "RAAF Embarkation Depot No.4". The RAAF vacated the Torrens Park site by 15 January 1944, and Scotch College had completed its return to Torrens Park from Birralee and Brierly Lodge by March 1944.
The photo shows former Scotch College students from the era gathering in May 1992 at the entrance to Birralee.
