English: The National Burns Memorial in Mauchline, Scotland, was designed by Scottish architect William Fraser, A.R.I.B.A. (1867-1922). The Memorial’s foundation stone was laid in 1896 and the Memorial, which included cottage homes for elderly residents of Mauchline and area, was completed in 1897. An article in The Scotsman published in 2004 said the Memorial is “regarded worldwide as a shrine central to the poet’s life and times”.
