Nederlands: Repronegatief. Gedurende de 19e eeuw en een deel van de 20e eeuw was Java bestuurlijk verdeeld in tussen de 20 en 25 Residenties (de aantallen wisselden door opsplitsingen en samenvoegingen). Op hun beurt waren de Residenties verdeeld in Regentschappen die bestuurd werden door een zogeheten Regent (bupati), buiten de Vorstenlanden de hoogste plaatselijke inheemse functionaris. De Regenten en hun familieleden vormden de Javaanse aristocratie, de erfelijke ambtsadel. Op de foto is achter de Regent het officiële zonnescherm te zien dat bij zijn rang hoorde. (P. Bahasa Indonesia: Repronegatief. Akhir abad ke-19 dan masuk abad ke-20, Pulau Jawa secara administratif dibagi menjadi sekitar 20 - 25 Residences (terdapat pemecahan dan penggabungan). Residences dibagi menjadi beberapa kabupaten yang di pimpin oleh seorang bupati, yaitu jabatan diluar kerajaan merupakan tingkatan tertinggi adat setempat.
