DescriptionCharles Anson Bond headstone - Green Lawn Cemetery (44412285525).jpg
Grave of Charles Anson Bond at Green Lawn Cemetery in Columbus, Ohio, in the United States.
Bond (1873-1943) was the 37th mayor of Columbus, serving from 1907 to 1909. His campaign is considered one of the dirtiest in Columbus history. Two weeks after winning offie, Bond's wife died in childbirth. He suffered from severe depression thereafter, and barely campaigned for re-election in 1909.
Bond relocated to Cleveland, Ohio, in 1910 and co-founded Bond Clothing Stores. The store was an innovator in clothing: It did not make the clothes it sold, but rather bought them from a factory. This is the norm today, but was unheard of in 1910.
