English: Charter Street Ragged School and Working Girls Home. The River Irk is underground somewhere near here, having been culverted as the city grew. In November 1745 Bonnie Prince Charlie's Jacobite Army camped in Manchester near this spot on their way south. This area has been known as Scotland since that time
