Nederlands: Orgel (onderdeel). Het orgel bestaat uit een houten L-vormig geraamte met de volgende onderdelen: het met rood katoen bespannen klankbord van triplex en gietijzer, waarop de snaren worden vastgemaakt en dwars daaronder de houten brug om de toonhoogte van de snaren vast te leggen. In het korte gedeelte, dat afgesloten kan worden met een deksel bevindt zich het hamermechaniek; de houten cilinder met houten getande kroon en een koperen staaf erdoorheen; aan de buitenkant beslagen met spijkertjes voor de muziek en rustend in een houten "wieg". De koperen "worm" die door de hendel in beweging wordt gebracht en waardoor bij elke omwenteling een tand van de houten kroon wordt verplaatst. Het afstelmechanisme voor het kiezen van de melodieën op de cilinder en de reguleerbout om de juiste stand van het mechaniek te regelen. Het geheel rust op een houten, inklapbare schraag met bovenop twee grijswitte katoenen draagbanden (5907-1b). Op de cilinder zijn door middel van de spijkertjes 8 melodieën aangebracht, waarvan er enkele - aangegeven met *- gecomponeerd zijn door Serapio Pinedo zelf: Resurekshon (wals), Flor de Wacao* (wals), Suegu grandi* (wals-joropo), een danza op het thema van Sarie Marijn, een foxtrot, Estrella* (danza), Maria Catalina (mazurka) en Para Pretu (tumba). Ka'i orgeltjes zijn het symbool van de Curaçaose folklore. De van oorsprong Duitse "straatpiano" werd eind 19e eeuw via Italie en Venezuela op Curaçao geïntroduceerd. Hun originele functie was (en is in Berlijn nog steeds) om langs de straten te gaan en met het spelen van de muziek geld te verdienen. Op Aruba en Curaçao is het Ka'i orgel nog steeds aanwezig bij allerlei festiviteiten (De Palm, pp.7).English: Organ (part). The organ consists of a wooden L-shaped frame with the following parts: the soundboard of plywood and cast iron covered with red cotton, on which the strings are attached, and transversely below the wooden bridge to fix the pitch of the strings. The hammer mechanism is located in the short part, which can be closed with a lid; the wooden cylinder with wooden toothed crown and a copper rod through it; studded on the outside for the music and resting in a wooden "crib". The brass "worm" set in motion by the lever, which moves a tooth of the wooden crown with each revolution. The whole rests on a wooden, collapsible trestle with two grey-white cotton straps (5907-1b) on top. Eight melodies have been applied to the cylinder by means of the nails, some of which - indicated with * - were composed by Serapio Pinedo himself: Resurekshon (waltz), Flor de Wacao* (waltz), Suegu grandi* (waltz-joropo), a danza on the theme of Sarie Marijn, a foxtrot, Estrella* (danza), Maria Catalina (mazurka) and Para Pretu (tumba). Ka'i organs are the symbol of Curaçao folklore. The originally German "street piano" was introduced to Curaçao at the end of the 19th century via Italy and Venezuela. Their original function was (and still is in Berlin) to walk the streets and make money playing the music. In Aruba and Curaçao the Ka'i organ is still present at all kinds of festivities (De Palm, pp.7). |
