Summary
| Description | Cruzeiro com cerca de sete metros de altura assente sobre um embasamento recente, em tronco piramidal, sobre o qual assenta o estrado original, retangular e em granito. Sobre este ergue-se então o fuste, uma coluna clássica lisa. Sobre o ábaco, uma esfera lisa, assente num pedestal envolto em volutas, serve de gólgota a uma cruz latina com braços de secção quadrada, rematados em trevo. A elegante figura de Cristo está rodeada por um resplendor de efeito tipicamente barroco. A base do monumento integra uma imagem de Santo António e uma referência ao sacramento da Eucaristia. Uma grade de ferro protegia a sua base, constituída por degraus que foram cortados no início de 1910, ano que em que passou a ser monumento nacional por Decreto de 16 de Junho. Integra-se no eixo antigo da cidade de Valongo, à margem da antiga ligação rodoviária do Porto a Penafiel, sendo enquadrado urbanisticamente por edifícios dos séculos XVIII, XIX e XX. <a href="https://www.cm-valongo.pt/frontoffice/pages/544?poi_id=81" rel="nofollow">www.cm-valongo.pt/frontoffice/pages/544?poi_id=81</a> |
