Object history
Deutsch: Der schrägrechte Wellenbalken, der das Wappen teilt, soll auf die Lieser hinweisen, die in der Gemarkung Boxberg ihren Ursprung hat. Das rote Rad im oberen Teil versinnbildlicht die Patronin der Kapelle und des Ortes, die Hl. Katharina. Außerdem deutet das Rad darauf hin, dass über Jahrhunderte in Boxberg die bäuerliche Struktur dominierend war. In Boxberg war eine der Richtstätten des ehemaligen Kurtrierischen Amtes Daun, wo auch Todesurteile vollstreckt wurden. Der Galgen stand auf "Schundbalg", vermutlich dem heutigen Schillberg. Aus dem "Büttelhof", der auch heute noch durch die Flurbezeichnung nachgewiesen ist, wurden die Einnahnmen für die Vollstreckung der Urteile erwirtschaftet. Das Schwert ist Symbol für die Richtstätte.
