Delmonico's in the FInancial District opened in 1827, and the restaurant has undergone many changes, but the building still stands. Famous patrons of the steakhouse include Theodore Roosevelt, Mark Twain, Arthur Sullivan, Charles Dickens, Oscar Wilde, J.P. Morgan, Nikola Tesla, Edward VII, then-Prince of Wales, and Napoleon III of France, and one day... me, though I won't be eating the steak.
