Description
English: Schema of the synthesis of (symmetrical) 2,2'-dipyrromethene derivative by condensation of two molecules of a pyrrole derivative and an aromatic aldehyde (ArCOH), catalyzed by trifluoroacetic acid (TFA), yielding a substituted 2,2'-dipyrromethane; followed by oxidation of the latter with 2,3-dichloro-5,6-dicyano-1,4-benzoquinone (DDQ). Derived from File:BODIPY_synth.png with the Gimp GNU/Linux editor.
