Dragonesque brooch
Description
English: Enamelled cast cu-alloy Dragonesque brooch dating from the 1st century AD. The brooch is incomplete with one of the heads of the brooch's body missing as well as the pin. The brooch was cast having small 'cloisonne'-style fields on the obverse whilst the reverse was plain. The obverse fields were filled with different coloured enamel, probably red and blue. They made of a geometrical and floral pattern and there was also enamel on the remaining head of the brooch, especially around the circular 'eye'. The pin would have been a strong cast cu-alloy pin that was 'looped' around the neck on one side using the 'neck' on the other side as pin rest.
