Summary

Description

Gorgeous bustling street scene taken at the corner of Earl Street and Sackville Street (now O'Connell Street), that also captures a great array of businesses in turn of the century Dublin. These include: The Sackville Café Hickey & Co. at no. 24 Sheridans Tea, Wine & Spirit Merchant, no. 26 Alexander, no. 27 (Billiards & Pool) Bowe & Co., no. 28 Dominating the foreground is Tylers, "the largest retailers in the world". On the day this photo was taken, they were having a sale to "clear surplus stock", and thanks to Downes clock, we know this photo was taken at 19 minutes past 2.
