Español: "Conformado por una banda inclinada de derecha a izquierda que separa los símbolos culturales de los naturales con el nombre SAN JUAN DE URABÁ, nombre del Municipio. CULTURA: EN LA FRANJA SUPERIOR: Se encuentra un tambor, instrumento africano que simboliza la cultura del municipio, inspirado en el bullarengue y la danza, este instrumento dio origen al sobrenombre “CUERO TOSTAO”. NATURAL: EN LA FRANJA INFERIOR: Se visualiza nuestro paisaje representado por el CERRO DE ZUMBA FRUTA, guardián permanente de nuestra población; el MAR CARIBE que con sus brisas veraneras refrescan la temperatura cálida de nuestro municipio y nos brinda desarrollo a través de la navegación, la pesca y el turismo; EL RÍO legendaria corriente de agua por donde entraron nuestros fundadores procedentes del departamento de Bolívar y que divide al municipio en dos sectores, a la margen derecha hacia el oriente la población San Juan Oriental peyorativamente “Pueblo Mocho” origen de la población y hacia la margen izquierda al occidente la población Rio Mar peyorativamente “Cuero tostao”; EL SOL símbolo de nuestra ardiente temperatura caribeña y bronceadora permanente de nuestra raza afro colombiana y el BARCO VELERO que significa el medio en que llegaron nuestros primitivos pobladores el 24 de junio de 1896, día de San Juan Bautista, quienes colocaron al río el nombre de San Juan. ECONOMIA: EN LA FRANJA SUPERIOR: Se encuentra una palma de coco de fondo y un coco partido en dos, además de un racimo de plátano, que simboliza la economía de nuestro Municipio. ASPECTO SOCIAL: PARTE SUPERIOR: Se encuentra suspendida una cinta dorada con el mensaje “CULTURA Y PROGRESO”. BANDERA: DE IZQUIERDA A DERECHA: La bandera de nuestro municipio complementa nuestro escudo el pabellón bicolor con dos franjas horizontales en igual proporción blanco y azul. El blanco: Parte superior, representa la paz reinante en el municipio y que todos anhelamos. El azul: Parte inferior, representa la riqueza marina y que el municipio se encuentra bañado del mar Caribe y rodeado por el Río San Juan. Autor: JOSÉ FERNANDO PAUTH FLÓREZ.
