Summary

Description
English: At the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) in Laurel, Maryland, an engineer performs wavefront tests on the optical telescope assembly (OTA) for the Europa Imaging System (EIS) narrow angle camera (NAC), designed for NASA’s Europa Clipper spacecraft. Wavefront testing ensures the system is aligned properly. The NAC will then undergo vibration and thermal tests, simulating launch and conditions in space, before integrating with the data processing unit for end-to-end electromagnetic tests and optical characterization in a simulated space environment in the APL Optical Calibration Facility. Once all testing is complete, the NAC will be shipped to NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California, for integration with the Europa Clipper spacecraft.
