English: High Bridge, Mavesyn Ridware This was quite a remarkable achievement for 1830, when it was manufactured by the Coalbrookdale Company at Ironbridge in Shropshire. Nikolaus Pevsner gives the span as 140 ft. (42 m approx.) and comments that the pattern of the two spandrels is 'not unattractive'. I would go further and say that the bridge is elegant and attractive. It is a pity that the deck is too narrow for modern traffic. |
