Hopedene (43 Cliff Avenue, Newport, RI) was built in 1889-1902 by architectural firm Peabody and Stearns for Mrs. E. H. G. (Elizabeth Hope, nee Gammell) Slater (1854-1944). Beatrix Ferrand was the landscape designer.
