Agave shawii—agave de la costa. Included in the CNPS Inventory of Rare and Endangered Plants on list [2.1] (rare, threatened, or endangered in CA; common elsewhere). Just makes it across the border at Border Fields State Park although this agave is quite common in Baja California. This is one of a patch of Shaw's agave in the garden that has now produced blooms for four years in a row. We had just sporadic blooms before these blooms began. Photographed at Regional Parks Botanic Garden located in Tilden Regional Park near Berkeley, CA.
