Summary

Description
English: Kimani was the first western low land gorilla born at the Franklin zoo in Boston. She developed rickets and low blood calcium. Dr. Holick saw the infant and based on the x-rays and physical examination concluded that she was vitamin D deficient and formulated 5000 IUs of vitamin D3 in corn oil that was given to her daily. She recovered quickly gaining full strength and rapidly mineralizing her skeleton.
