This retail space, which lies beneath L'Enfant Plaza Hotel and L'Enfant Plaza itself and connects the four buildings on the place to one another as well as to the L'Enfant Plaza Metro (subway) station, underwent a significant renovation beginning in 2010. This image shows the renovation nearing completion in February 2011.
L'Enfant Plaza was designed by I. M. Pei for developer William Zeckendorf in the early 1960s. The L'Enfant Plaza Hotel was designed by Vlastimil Koubek, and built in 1971.
