Summary

Description

Le Zappéion est un édifice conçu par l'architecte danois Theophil Hansen et construit entre 1874 et 1888. Il est situé dans le jardin national à proximité du Parlement et de la présidence de la République grecque à Athènes.

C'est un riche philanthrope grec Evangelis Zappas mort en 1865 qui est à l'origine, par le legs de sa fortune à la Grèce, de l'édification de ce bâtiment consacré au renouveau des Jeux Olympiques à Athènes et plus largement des valeurs de l'Hellénisme.

C'est un bâtiment utilisé pour des cérémonies officielles ou pour divers évènements privés
