Summary

Description
English: Seen here is part of the Marblecliff Quarry in Columbus, Ohio. The quarry complex is large - parts are inactive and have been converted to other uses, while the area seen here is still operational. Quarrying targets the Columbus Limestone, a Middle Devonian shallow marine unit. Part of the overlying unit, the Delaware Limestone, is present near the top of the section here. Limestone from quarries has many uses, including building stone, decorative stone, gravel, rip-rap, ballast, and erosion control. Locality: Marblecliff Quarry (Marble Cliff Quarry) (view from the North Unit of Quarry Trails Park), western side of Columbus, Franklin County, central Ohio, USA (40° 00’ 33.93" North latitude, 83° 05’ 47.07" West longitude)
