"Matilda, Dei Gratia Si Quid Est" (Matilda, who, if she is something, is for God's grace). The double S means "SubScripsi" ("I undersigned"), telling that the Countess has approved the document.
  • Italiano: Sottoscrizione autografa di Matilda di Canossa sulla Notitia Confirmationis (Prato, Giugno 1107). "Matilda, Dei Gratia, Si Quid Est" (Matilda, che se è qualcosa, lo è per grazia di Dio). La "SS" sta per "SubScripsi" ed indica che la contessa ha effettivamente sottoscritto ed approvato il documento.
  • Deutsch: Eigenhändige Signatur von Mathilde von Tuszien auf einer Notitia Confirmationis (Prato, June 1107). "Matilda, Dei Gratia Si Quid Est" (Mathilde, die, wenn sie etwas/jemand ist, dies durch durch Gottes Gnade ist). Das doppelte S bedeutet "SubScripsi" ("Ich habe unterzeichnet"), d.h., daß die Markgräfin das Dokument approbiert hat.
