Summary

Description
English: Mearclough Bridge, Sowerby Bridge This narrow masonry arch bridge was strengthened by 'saddling' (filling the space over the arches between the spandrel walls with reinforced concrete) in the 1970's. Hence it is strong enough to carry heavy goods vehicles to and from the adjoining recycling depot. However, the parapet has taken a severe blow from a large vehicle!
