Near the head of the glen is a conifer plantation at UK grid reference NS 822 992.(1) Below it, the Lossburn Reservoir drains into the Loss Burn which is joined from the right (north) by the Crunie Burn; the Menstrie Burn proper begins at that junction. Broad-leaved trees grow in the deeply-cut valleys while, on the higher hillsides, the rough pasture is overgrown in many places with bracken. Jerah, the abandoned farmstead, is at the top right-hand corner of the image.
(1) The plantation was felled and harvested in Summer 2011.
