Summary

Description
English: The Shay steam engine, Mount Emily Lumber Company Number 1, was built in 1923 by Lima Locomotive Works and used to haul logs from forests to mills. This Shay is owned by the Oregon Historical Society and is housed, maintained and operated (on special occasions) by the City of Prineville Railway (COPR), a short-line connecting Prineville with Redmond, 18 miles to the west. This date the COPR is operating the Shay to help celebrate the 125th Anniversary of Crook County by giving locals rides beginning at 11 am, 12 pm and 2 pm. The rides started at Prineville’s Ochoco Creek Park and went about 6 miles to the trestle bridge over US Hwy 26 northwest of Prineville. The train then reversed back to Prineville to board the next group of riders.
