English: Niijima Yae (1845-1932) with a katana and a rifle, wearing Hakama and Haori (unknown date). The text seems to be the waka (or a variation) 「明日の夜は何国の誰かながむらん なれし御城に残す月かげ」written by her in 1868 after the Battle of Aizu.
