C. Thurstan Holland, Chairman, Charles F. Inston, Secretary - Northern Photographic Exhibition, Liverpool. John Dudley Johnston (1868 - 1955) was born in Liverpool. He studied music and was, at one time, Director of the Liverpool Philharmonic Society. He was a noted Pictorialist photographer, a collector, curator and driving force behind the Royal Photographic Society's photographic collection. He was an elected member of the RPS in 1907; admitted FRPS in 1925; awarded Hon. FRPS in 1925; President of the RPS 1923 to 1925 and again 1929 to 1931; awarded RPS Progress Medal in 1952. Charles Frederick Inston (d. 1917) became Secretary then President of the Liverpool Amateur Photographic Society. He was an elected member of the RPS in 1896 and Fellow in 1901; organiser of the Northern Photographic Exhibition.
