Dan "Ollie" Pickering played major league baseball for the Louisville Colonels, Cleveland Blues, St. Louis Browns, and Washington Senators. Pickering was the first batter in the first American League baseball game when he batted leadoff for the Cleveland Blues vs. Chicago White Sox, April 24, 1901.
