| Description |
English: On the right side of it, it’s a yamen runner with a board in his right hand, saying, arrest for the recalcitrant citizen. On top of his head, we can read it’s for calling the duty grain in arrears in Shiling County. On the left side write the content of the notification which says the tax defaulter should pay the tax in ten days and then go to modify the recording. It also threatens that if he fails to do that in time, he will be arrested to the court and punished strictly. It claims that the tax defaulter shouldn’t try to break the law. After the warning follows his address(八都八图六甲), name(钱忳) and the date(Jan 4th, 1872, eleventh year in TongZhi’s regime). |
