Summary

Description
English: Common garden petunia, Yokohama, Japan

Petunia ×atkinsiana (Q16861020)[1], common name: Petunia is a hybrid species of garden plant that describes between the two petunia species P. axillaris and P. integrifloria.
Petunia integrifolia (Hook.) Schinz & Thellung and Petunia violacea  have both been known by the vernacular name of violet petunia or violet-flowered petunia, both being species of wild petunia with violet-colored blooms.[2][3] Violet-flowered petunia is distinguished from other naturalized Petunia species (P. axillaris) by its purple flowers that are funnel-shaped, rather than narrowly tube-shaped.

Petunia axillaris has large white flowers with long, tubular bases loosely resemble tobacco.[4]
The popular flower of the same name derived its epithet from the French, which took the word petun, meaning "tobacco," from a Tupi–Guarani language.[5]
