English: Plaque gifted by Polish soldiers to town of Elie During WWII the Polish Paratroop Brigade was stationed in Fife and in recognition of the hospitality they received erected this plaque on the town hall at Earlsferry. After the war many married and settled in Fife and lots of families in the area have Polish surnames.
The Polish Commander in Chief, General Sikorski had his HQ at St Andrews.
