Summary

Description
English: The Porta dels Països Catalans, inaugurated in 2003, and located in the commune of Sales-le-Château, was erected to mark the northern "entry" into territories where the Catalan language is spoken.

In this view, towards the south-west, the Canigó massif (of symbolic significance for Catalan people) can be seen in the far distance, slightly to the right of centre.

The monument is situated on the edge of a limestone plateau, overlooking the Roussillon plain, as shown in an image by David Hare in Google Maps.
