Description
English: Pre-war 'Garden Cities Express' leaving Cambridge for London King's Cross, 1939
View northward from near Hills Road,south of Cambridge station. The train is taking the LNER main lines and parting from the LMSR line to Bletchley. The locomotive is Gresley B17/2 'Sandringham' class 4-6-0 No. 2842 'Kilverstone Hall', built 5/33, renumbered 1642 in 1946 and as BR No. 61642 was rebuilt to B17/6 in 1/49 and withdrawn in 9/58 - relatively early.
