Description
Deutsch: Gummiwurstantenne.
English: Rubber duck antenna on a walkie-talkie portable radio. It consists of a springy helix of wire, covered by the black rubber sleeve. The inductance of the helix serves as an integrated loading coil for the antenna, allowing the antenna to be made shorter than an ordinary whip antenna and still be resonant. The rubber ducky is the most common type of antenna on walkie-talkies.
