Summary

Description
English: Richman's Plant at Moonta Mines, South Australia, during the 1890s. The photo shows copper ore processing plant, workers and two steam locomotives -- Beyer, Peacock 0-4-0 WT (Works Number 3057) and Hudswell Clarke 0-4-2 ST (Works Number 394). Behind the timber buildings is the enginehouse, the shell of which remains at the site; the oscillating beam protrudes on its right, just below the overhanging gangway. The photograph was catalogued as "possibly 1899", but by that time the speed of exposure was such that most everyday movements were frozen; the positioning of people in frozen poses in this photo, even in the distance, may well indicate an earlier date.
