Description
English: Old Salem Courthouse in Salem, New Jersey. By one standard, the 2nd oldest courthouse in the US (there's lots of ways of counting this). Surprisingly, it is not itself on the NRHP, but is in a Historic District, the Market Street Historic District on the NRHP since April 10, 1975 Irregular pattern on both sides of Market St. from Broadway to Fenwick Creek. Pre-revolutionary event involving the Greenwich, NJ teaburners, post revolutionary legend involving showing that tomatoes are not poisonous by eating them on the courthouse steps.
