Purpose of use

The article text delves into the creation period of the title and this photo specifically illustrates creators in studio during period of creation and shows them using western documentational illustrations to help create the series Boys' Ranch. The process of creating a new comic book feature is complicated and not widely documented, therefore this image helps clarify the actual creative process of the series. It adds to critical understanding of the subject by illustrating the real-world creation of these fictional characters and their specific milieu. Showing the creators of a product here is akin to showing Thomas Edison in an article about a photograph or Alexander Graham Bell in an article about the invention of the telephone.

Replaceable?

Few photos from that specific period are known to exist. Since Mr. Kirby is deceased, it is impossible to depict the team of Simon and Kirby together in a newly created photo.
