The church is used for theatre performances and a stage is in the process of being built. It was built mainly during the 14th century and the font > <a title="https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2049313" rel="nofollow" href="https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2049313">Link</a><img style="padding-left:2px;" alt="External link" title="External link - shift click to open in new window" src="http://s0.geograph.org.uk/img/external.png" width="10" height="10"/> dates from that time. It contains a number of memorials and monuments to members of the Bacon family. The tomb > <a title="https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2049273" rel="nofollow" href="https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2049273">Link</a><img style="padding-left:2px;" alt="External link" title="External link - shift click to open in new window" src="http://s0.geograph.org.uk/img/external.png" width="10" height="10"/> at the east end of the north aisle was built by Sir Nicolas Bacon, son of The Lord Keeper, for his wife Anne in 1616. The tomb was made by Bernard Janssen, the king's engineer.
