Summary

Description
English: Francis Pringle Taylor, 1888

Francis Pringle Taylor was appointed Executive Officer of the ship HMQS 'Gayundah' on 30 March 1885. In November 1888, following the dismissal of Henry Townley Wright, Boyd Morehead appointed Taylor Acting Senior Naval Officer and Superintendant of the Queensland Marine Defence Force. Taylor had been placed under arrest by Wright on board the 'Gayundah' in October 1888 when Morehead ordered him to hand command of the ship over to Taylor. Taylor was confirmed in the positions and was succeeded by Walton Drake on 1 November 1892. Taylor had been an officer of the Royal Navy prior to his appointment to the Queensland Service. (Information taken from Blue Book of Queensland, 1888, 1893).

Inscription on back reads: 'With Captain Taylor’s very kind regards 1893'.
