Summary

Description
English: Statue Malvern Park - Solihull. It is of a Horse and its Horse Tamer.
This is a photo of listed building number 1342851.

It used to be in Tudor Grange, the home of the Bird family (of custard fame).

It was made by Joseph Boehm in 1874, and was originally in the gardens of Tudor Grange (which I believe is now on the grounds of Solihull College on Blossomfield Road).

Captain Oliver Bird, High Sheriff of Warwickshire (son of Alfred Frederick Bird, son of the original Alfred Bird) bought the sculpture at auction and donated it to the Borough of Solihull in 1944 after his mothers death.

It was presented to the council in 1953.

Boehm made many statues that are in London, including the Temple Bar Monument and the Duke of Wellington at Hyde Park Corner. There is a collection of busts by Boehm in the National Portrait Gallery.

The statue is Grade II listed.

Later C19 statuary group of horse and horse tamer on stone pedestal by Boehm.
