Summary

Description
English: A sculpture by Sandtastic Sand Sculpting, located in front of the KSC Swamp Works. In the sculpture, an astronaut controls to robots to construct a lunar building. One robot in the foreground delivers loose regolith (lunar soil) through a tube into a pile. The other robot in the background stacks hexagonal bricks made of sintered (baked) lunar regolith. Lunar regolith can provide protection against solar and cosmic radiation as well as protection from micrometeoroid impacts. This work symbolized the KSC Swamp Works, which is a technology innovation lab that creates robotics technology to work on the surfaces of other planetary bodies and to use their resources.
