English: View of the village of Tende, France. Tende is a small village in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur (PACA) province of France near the border with Italy. The town is located at 800 meters of elevation and is built into the side of a steep hill. The town has been inhabited since the 7th Century (if not earlier) and is a popular destination for hikers, golfers, and other outdoor sport enthusiasts. The town has been part of various kingdoms affiliated with both France and Italy over the years and its inhabitants are known as "tendasques" and speak a dialect of French known as "tendasque." |
