Summary[edit]

Licensing[edit]

This is a photo of the late John Tenta (1963-2006), taken from the May 1986 issue of Sumo World, an English-language Japanese sumo-magazine. Tenta became famous as a Professional Wrestler in the United States, and most Westerners do not realize that he had a short, but publicized career as a sumotori (he was one of very few Western sumotori in the early 1980s). This is one of the few photos available of him at the time --all of which are copyrighted. Sumo World Magazine is apparently defunct (see this posting and the website for the magazine is down), although that would not absolve the copyright, it means it is currently hard to ascertain who owns this photo. I have shrunk the photo, reducing resolution.

It is intended to illustrate a younger Tenta, pre-professional wrestling.
