Description
English: Youssef Hoyek - Original Martyrs Square statue, Beirut, Lebanon (1930) - Depicting a Muslim woman (L) and a Christian woman (R) with outstretched hands over an urn. Hoyek carved on their respective chests a small cross and a stylized shahada (لا إله إلا الله). The statues were vandalized in 1948. Their remnants are now on display at Sursock museum, Beirut.
